Andhra Mahila Sabha is one of the oldest Voluntary Organisations, founded by late Padmavibhushan Dr.(Smt).Durgabai Deshmukh in the year 1948, dedicating it’s services to the uplift and empowerment of women, welfare of children, senior citizens and the disabled. Health, education and training youth in acquiring skills in vocational trades have been the focal areas among its various other welfare activities.

Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh, the mother of social service spear-headed a relentless crusade against illiteracy, ignorance and social injustice against women. Her leadership qualities were exhibited right from the tender age when she started a “Hindu Balika Pathasala” for girls and later in life courted arrest for having participated in Salt Satyagraha. Dr.Durgabai Deshmukh received several national and international awards in recognition of her relentless struggle to bring about social justice to the downtrodden and suffering women. Under the banner of Andhra Mahila Sabha several educational institutions, hospitals, health care centers, old age homes, legal aid centers etc are now functioning in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu.

P.Obul Reddy Educational Academy was founded by Andhra Mahila Sabha in the year 1989. This academy started this school in a very humble way with a student strength of around 35 and 3 staff members. It is presently located in a sprawling 5 acre plot in the most prestigious locality in the city, Jubilee Hills. The school is named after Sri.P.Obul Reddy a philanthropist who has been the prime donor. The present student strength is 2100 with the staff strength of 100, besides the administrative and other subordinate staff. The growth has been phenomenal, in quality and quantity. The school has carved a special niche in school education for itself over these years and occupies a place of pride among the most premier institutions in the state.

Our school is located in serene surroundings with open spaces, lush green lawns overlooking the habitation below offering a panoramic view of the twin cities. Our campus provides the right ambience to promote learning. We provide an ideal platform for the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional growth of the children. PROFILE

Andhra Mahila Sabha - P. Obul Reddy Public School, is a co-educational day school with about 2100 students on its rolls. It is affiliated to Central Board Secondary Education and has classes from Nursery to XII. The school has broad based and balanced curriculum wherein social and moral values are ingrained, leading to development of integrated personalities. Equal opportunities are provided to the less privileged sections of the society. Gifted students from the families facing financial difficulties are given scholarships to help them complete their studies. Differently abled children are integrated into the main stream of the school life. The school does not discriminate on the basis of religion, caste, creeed or region.

The school programme is periodically reviewed to incorporate any additional learning skills required. P. A branch school was started at Sainikpuri in the year 2006 and running classes from I to V, with all the required infrastructural facilities.

VOLUNTARY SERVICE:

All the children of the sub staff employees are given free education by us. Scholarships are extended to academically brilliant and economically weak students. The school always takes a pro-active role, rises to the occasions lending a helping hand to the victims of natural calamities by contributing it’s migte either in cash or kind. Students thus imbibe a culture of selfless help to the needy.

ALUMNAE

The school alumnae are very active, many of them are now occupying important positions in various fields including the corporate world. They meet on 25th December every year in the school campus. They contribute to the strengthening of the infrastructure of the school.
